About Eagle
Eagle was a short-lived American car brand created by Chrysler after its acquisition of American Motors Corporation. Sold mainly from the 1988 to 1998 model years, it was positioned as a more import-oriented marque within Chrysler’s dealer network, combining domestic distribution with models influenced by Renault, Mitsubishi and Chrysler engineering.
The Eagle range was relatively small and focused on passenger cars rather than trucks or SUVs. Its lineup included compact cars, sporty coupes and mid-size sedans. The most recognised model today is the Eagle Talon, a sport compact coupe closely related to the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser. Turbocharged and all-wheel-drive versions helped give the Talon a strong following among performance enthusiasts.
Other notable models include the Eagle Premier, a Renault-influenced sedan that helped shape Chrysler’s later LH platform, and the Eagle Vision, a sleek mid-size sedan related to the Dodge Intrepid and Chrysler Concorde. The Eagle Summit served buyers looking for a practical compact car, with body styles that included sedan, coupe and wagon variants depending on the year.
Eagle no longer exists as an active brand, so its presence today is mostly in the used and enthusiast markets. It is remembered for badge-engineered models, distinctive 1990s styling, and a lineup that tried to bridge American and Japanese car influences. Interest is strongest around the Talon, while sedans such as the Vision and Premier appeal mainly to collectors of Chrysler-era models.
