About Eagle Vista
The Eagle Vista was a compact, Canadian-market model sold from 1988 to 1992. It was introduced during the early years of Chrysler’s Eagle division and served as one of the brand’s entry-level vehicles. Built by Mitsubishi, the Vista reflected the close product-sharing relationship between Chrysler and the Japanese manufacturer.
The range included a three-door hatchback, a four-door sedan and a taller five-door wagon. The hatchback and sedan were versions of the Mitsubishi Mirage, while the wagon was derived from the Mitsubishi Chariot, also known in some markets as the Space Wagon. This gave the Vista nameplate two distinct characters: a conventional small car and a more spacious, multi-purpose family vehicle.
Four-cylinder petrol engines were used throughout the range, with manual and automatic transmissions offered. Selected hatchback and sedan versions were available with turbocharged power, including GT and LX variants. The wagon used a larger engine and could be specified with either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Positioned as affordable and practical transport, the Vista was known for compact exterior dimensions, efficient packaging and a broad choice of body styles. The wagon was particularly versatile for its era, combining car-like proportions with extra passenger and cargo space. Its short production run and Canada-only availability have made the Vista one of the less common models from the Eagle brand.
