About GMC HUMMER EV
The GMC HUMMER EV is an all-electric off-road vehicle line sold as a pickup truck and an SUV. It brought the Hummer name back as part of the GMC brand, replacing the earlier image of large petrol-powered Hummer models with a battery-electric format focused on power, technology and off-road ability.
Production began with the HUMMER EV Pickup Edition 1, followed by broader pickup availability and the HUMMER EV SUV. The model is built at GM’s Factory ZERO facility in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan, a plant retooled for electric vehicle production. It uses GM’s Ultium battery and drive technology and sits among GMC’s most advanced electric models, alongside the Sierra EV.
The range has included versions such as 2X and 3X, with dual- and tri-motor electric four-wheel-drive layouts depending on specification. Limited or special versions have also appeared, including Edition 1, Omega Edition and Carbon Fiber Edition models. The pickup offers an open cargo bed, while the SUV uses a shorter, enclosed body aimed more at passenger and recreational use.
