About SsangYong Actyon
The SsangYong Actyon is a compact SUV introduced in South Korea in 2005. It joined the brand’s SUV-focused range below larger models such as the Rexton and was distinguished by a sharply sloping rear roofline. This unconventional SUV-coupé profile made the Actyon one of SsangYong’s most recognisable designs of the period.
The original five-door model used body-on-frame construction and was offered with petrol or turbo-diesel engines, depending on the market. Manual and automatic transmissions were available, along with rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations. Production and sales dates varied by country, with the first version generally remaining available into the early 2010s.
The Actyon Sports, introduced soon after the SUV, adapted related engineering to a five-seat, double-cab pickup body. A substantially updated Actyon Sports arrived in 2012 and continued in several export markets before the Musso became SsangYong’s main pickup. In some countries, the monocoque Korando C was also sold as the New Actyon, meaning vehicles carrying the Actyon name can differ considerably in platform and design.
Within the SsangYong range, the Actyon was positioned as an accessible alternative to mainstream compact SUVs and pickups. It is chiefly known for distinctive styling, available four-wheel drive, diesel capability and a practical balance between passenger use and utility.
