About Scion iM
The Scion iM is a compact five-door hatchback introduced in the United States for the 2016 model year. It arrived in September 2015 alongside the iA sedan and was one of Scion’s final new vehicles. Within the lineup, it provided a practical compact alternative to the tC coupe and FR-S sports car.
Scion sold the iM in a single well-equipped specification rather than offering multiple trim levels. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission with simulated stepped shifts. Both versions used front-wheel drive and a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 137 hp. No all-wheel-drive or factory performance variant was offered.
The iM was positioned as an accessible alternative to established compact hatchbacks, combining distinctive styling with everyday versatility. Its five-door body, split-folding rear seats and flexible cargo area suited commuting and small-family use. Independent rear suspension supported composed handling, while standard features included 17-inch alloy wheels, touchscreen audio and a reversing camera.
Scion was discontinued in 2016 as its models moved into the Toyota range. For 2017, the iM continued as the Toyota Corolla iM, making the Scion version a single-model-year vehicle.
