About Volvo EX30
The Volvo EX30 is a five-seat, fully electric small SUV introduced in late 2023. It is Volvo’s smallest SUV and serves as the entry point to the brand’s electric crossover range, below the EX40 and larger EX90. Its compact dimensions are aimed mainly at urban use, while its upright body provides the seating position and practicality expected of an SUV.
The EX30 remains in its first generation. Depending on the market, the range includes rear-wheel-drive Single Motor and Single Motor Extended Range versions, plus the quicker Twin Motor Performance model with all-wheel drive. The EX30 Cross Country joined the range in 2025, adding increased ground clearance, protective exterior details and all-wheel drive for more varied road conditions.
Initial production was based in China, with European manufacturing added at Volvo’s Ghent plant in Belgium in April 2025. This expanded capacity for a model positioned in the small premium electric SUV segment.
The EX30 is known for restrained Scandinavian styling, a minimalist cabin centred on a single touchscreen and extensive use of recycled and renewable materials. It also combines rapid electric performance in higher-output versions with urban-focused safety systems, Google-based infotainment and over-the-air software updates.
