About Volkswagen Tacqua
The Volkswagen Tacqua is a subcompact crossover developed for the Chinese market and produced by FAW-Volkswagen. Introduced in December 2019 under the Chinese name Tanying, it is closely related to the European T-Cross. Its wheelbase was extended by 88 mm compared with the European model to provide additional passenger space for local buyers.
The Tacqua occupies the entry end of FAW-Volkswagen’s SUV range, below larger models such as the T-Roc-based T-Roc/T-Roc探歌 and Tayron. It combines compact exterior dimensions and a raised driving position with a five-door body and a cabin intended for everyday urban and family use. The model has remained within its first generation, receiving equipment and specification revisions rather than a complete redesign.
Versions have included regular trim levels and an R-Line variant with sportier exterior and interior details. Petrol engine choices have varied by model year and have included naturally aspirated and turbocharged units, paired with front-wheel drive.
