About Volkswagen Sagitar
The Volkswagen Sagitar is a compact four-door saloon developed for China and produced by FAW-Volkswagen. Introduced in 2006, it was initially the local counterpart to the Jetta sold internationally, using the Sagitar name because Jetta was already established in China as a separate model. It generally sits above the Bora and below the larger Magotan in Volkswagen’s Chinese saloon line-up.
Across four generations, the Sagitar has evolved from a close relative of the fifth-generation Jetta into a more China-focused vehicle. The second generation arrived in 2012, followed by the third in 2019 with MQB architecture and a longer wheelbase intended to improve rear-seat space. The current range includes the larger Sagitar L and the more compact Sagitar S. Earlier generations also offered sport-oriented GLI and R-Line versions alongside mainstream models.
The Sagitar is known for conservative Volkswagen styling, practical interior packaging and road manners aimed at everyday comfort.
