About Volkswagen Parati

The Volkswagen Parati is a compact station wagon developed by Volkswagen do Brasil as part of the Gol-based family. Introduced in June 1982 as a 1983 model, it sat alongside the Gol hatchback, Voyage saloon and Saveiro pickup. It was aimed mainly at Brazil and other Latin American markets, combining small-car dimensions with a larger, more flexible luggage area.

Produced until 2012, the Parati began as a three-door wagon and was later offered with five doors. Its development is commonly divided into four generations: the original G1, the more rounded G2, the extensively restyled G3 and the updated G4. These changes broadly followed the evolution of the Gol, while retaining the Parati’s practical estate body.

The range included basic family models, better-equipped GLS and GLSi versions, the performance-oriented GTI 16V and lifestyle editions such as Summer, Sunset and Track & Field. Engine choices varied by period and included petrol, ethanol and later Total Flex units, as well as the unusual 1.0 turbo. Export-market names included Fox Wagon in North America and Gol Country in Argentina. Known for useful cargo capacity, compact proportions and familiar Volkswagen mechanical components, the Parati occupied an important position among affordable Brazilian station wagons.
