About Volkswagen Multivan
The Volkswagen Multivan is a passenger-focused MPV developed by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Introduced in 1985 as part of the rear-engined T3 range, it combined the space of a van with a more comfortable and adaptable interior for family, leisure and business use.
The model evolved through the T3, T4, T5, T6 and updated T6.1 generations. These versions shared their basic structure with Volkswagen’s Transporter family but placed greater emphasis on passenger comfort, flexible seating and higher equipment levels. Depending on generation and market, variations included different body lengths, petrol and diesel engines, all-wheel drive and special editions.
The current T7 Multivan, launched in 2021 and produced in Hanover, Germany, represents a significant change. It uses Volkswagen Group’s MQB passenger-car platform rather than the architecture of the related commercial van. Standard- and long-body models are offered, generally with up to seven seats. Powertrain availability varies by country and includes petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid options, with 4MOTION all-wheel drive available on selected versions.
