About Volkswagen ID. UNYX 07
The Volkswagen ID. UNYX 07 is a China-focused battery-electric mid-size fastback sedan introduced in 2026. It is manufactured by Volkswagen Anhui in Hefei and was developed specifically for Chinese buyers under the company’s “In China, for China” strategy. Within the ID. UNYX range, it follows the ID. UNYX 06 coupé SUV and extends the line into the sedan segment.
The ID. UNYX 07 is the first production Volkswagen to use the locally developed China Electronic Architecture. Created by Volkswagen Group China Technology Company, CARIAD China and XPENG, this zonal electronic system supports central computing, over-the-air updates, connected-cabin functions and China-specific driver assistance. A coupé-like profile is combined with a large rear hatch, providing greater loading flexibility than a conventional saloon.
The first-generation model was launched in Pure and Pure SE versions. Both use a single rear-mounted electric motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery, with equipment and wheel specifications separating the two variants. The interior emphasises digital technology through large displays, an augmented-reality head-up display and a dedicated passenger screen.
Positioned as a technology-led electric sedan in Volkswagen’s China-only UNYX portfolio, the model is known for its locally developed software architecture, rear-wheel-drive layout, connected features and practical fastback body. No second generation has been introduced.
