About Volkswagen Eos
The Volkswagen Eos is a four-seat coupé-convertible produced from 2006 to 2015. Developed as a standalone model rather than simply an open-top Golf, it occupied a specialised, comfort-focused place in Volkswagen’s passenger-car range. It was built in Palmela, Portugal.
Its defining feature is the five-piece CSC retractable hardtop, combining a folding steel roof with an integrated glass sliding and tilting sunroof. The roof opens or closes in about 25 seconds, allowing the Eos to provide coupé-like weather protection and open-air driving in one body style.
The Eos remained within one generation, known by factory code 1F, but received a substantial update for 2011. This introduced Volkswagen’s newer front-end design, revised lighting and equipment changes while retaining the original body and roof concept. Depending on market and model year, engines included FSI, TSI and TFSI petrol units, TDI diesels and limited V6 versions.
Compared with the smaller Golf Cabriolet, the Eos followed a distinct design and market position, with greater emphasis on its complex roof and year-round usability. Trim levels and special editions varied by country. The model is chiefly known for its unusual roof engineering, four-seat layout and blend of coupé refinement with convertible flexibility. Volkswagen built 231,863 examples.
