About Volkswagen CC
The Volkswagen CC is a mid-size four-door car with a low, coupé-like roofline and frameless side windows. Introduced in 2008 as the Passat CC, it combined Passat-based engineering and everyday usability with more distinctive styling and a more upmarket interior. Volkswagen positioned it as a design-led alternative to a conventional family or business saloon rather than a traditional two-door coupé.
The CC had one main generation. A substantial update was presented in 2011 and launched in 2012, when the Passat name was dropped and the vehicle became a standalone Volkswagen model. Changes included revised exterior styling and updated equipment. Specifications varied by market, with petrol and diesel engines, manual or automatic transmissions, front-wheel drive and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Some countries also received a 3.6-litre six-cylinder version, while R-Line models added sportier design details and equipment.
The CC sat above the regular Passat in price and image, offering a balance of comfort, composed road manners and practical saloon accommodation. Its sloping roof traded some rear headroom for a sleeker profile. The model was succeeded by the Volkswagen Arteon, presented in 2017.
