About Toyota Nadia

The Toyota Nadia was a five-door, five-seat tall wagon developed mainly for the Japanese market. Launched in August 1998 and discontinued in October 2003, it remained a single-generation model. Based on the first-generation Ipsum, it was positioned between a conventional sedan and a minivan, combining a relatively manageable body with a high, spacious cabin.

Its defining feature was a flexible two-row interior. Available arrangements included front seats that could swivel 180 degrees, fold-flat front backrests, split rear seats and walk-through access within the cabin. These features made the Nadia suitable for families and buyers seeking more passenger space and versatility than a typical saloon or estate without requiring three-row seating.

The range used 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engines, including D-4 direct-injection versions, paired with four-speed automatic transmissions. Front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive were offered. In June 1999, Toyota added the Type SU, distinguished by increased ride height, larger wheels, body cladding and more SUV-like styling. Later versions included X, L and S equipment grades.

Within Toyota’s late-1990s range, the Nadia occupied a niche between passenger cars, practical wagons and compact people carriers. It is best known for its roomy cabin, adaptable seating, rounded styling and the contrasting Type SU variation. No direct successor continued the Nadia name.
