About Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a body-on-frame SUV developed as the more passenger-focused, light-duty branch of the Land Cruiser family. Introduced as a distinct model in 1990, it combined genuine off-road ability with easier handling, greater comfort and more family-oriented interiors than Toyota’s heavy-duty Land Cruiser models.
Four established Prado generations carried the 70, 90, 120 and 150 series designations. The Land Cruiser 250, launched in 2024, succeeded the 150 series and is sold under the Prado name in some markets. Earlier generations included short-wheelbase three-door and long-wheelbase five-door bodies, while later versions concentrated mainly on practical five-door layouts with five or seven seats. Petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and four-wheel-drive systems varied by generation and region.
