About Toyota Innova
The Toyota Innova is a mid-size multi-purpose vehicle developed primarily for Asian and other emerging markets. Introduced in 2004 as part of Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle programme, it was designed around local production and regional requirements. In Indonesia, it belongs to the long-running Kijang family and is sold as the Kijang Innova, while India and several other markets use the Innova name.
Three main generations have appeared. The first established the model as a practical, rear-wheel-drive people carrier. The second arrived in 2015 and is widely known as the Innova Crysta, with more modern styling, improved comfort and upgraded equipment. The third generation followed in 2022 as the Innova Zenix in Indonesia and Innova HyCross in India. It adopted a front-wheel-drive, unit-body TNGA platform and added petrol-hybrid power in selected markets. Availability varies, and the Crysta remains on sale alongside the newer version in India.
Across its versions, the Innova typically provides three-row seating for seven or eight occupants. Petrol and diesel engines have been offered, with the latest generation expanding into hybrid powertrains. Within Toyota’s lineup, it serves as a spacious family and business MPV known for flexible seating, long-distance comfort, durability and suitability for demanding everyday use.
