About Toyota Allion
The Toyota Allion is a four-door saloon developed primarily for Japan. Introduced in December 2001 as the successor to the Carina, it was classed as a medium-sized “5-number” model, combining compact exterior dimensions with a comparatively spacious cabin. Within Toyota’s domestic range, it served as a practical mid-market saloon with a more youthful, sporty design than traditional business-oriented models.
Two Japanese generations were produced: the T240 series from 2001 to 2007 and the T260 series from 2007 until March 2021. The second generation received styling, equipment and safety updates during its long production run. Common versions included the A15, A18 and A20, corresponding to 1.5-, 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines. Front-wheel drive was standard, while four-wheel drive was available with selected 1.8-litre variants.
The Allion is known for efficient use of interior space, comfortable rear seating, flexible folding seat arrangements, easy manoeuvrability and a quiet, composed ride. In 2021, FAW Toyota introduced a separate China-market Allion built on Toyota’s TNGA architecture; this model belongs to a different product line rather than continuing the Japanese T240 and T260 series.
