About Suzuki XBEE
The Suzuki XBEE, pronounced “Crossbee”, is a compact crossover wagon introduced in Japan in December 2017. Developed primarily for the Japanese market, it combines the upright packaging and flexible cabin of a small wagon with SUV-inspired styling and features. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for crowded urban roads, while the tall body provides useful passenger and luggage space.
Within Suzuki’s range, the XBEE sits between kei-class crossover models and larger compact SUVs. It is not a kei car, allowing a wider body and a larger engine while retaining an emphasis on manoeuvrability and efficient packaging. Distinctive rounded-square styling, generous headroom, adjustable rear seating and practical storage are central to its identity.
The model line has two main technical phases. The original MN71S version used a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mild-hybrid assistance and a six-speed automatic transmission. An extensive update in October 2025 introduced the MND1S version with revised exterior and interior design, a 1.2-litre mild-hybrid powertrain and a continuously variable transmission. Safety and driver-assistance equipment was also expanded.
Japanese-market versions have mainly been offered in HYBRID MX and better-equipped HYBRID MZ grades, with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Two-tone paint schemes and accessory packages support its lifestyle-oriented character. The XBEE is best known as a practical, individual-looking alternative to a conventional small hatchback or compact SUV.
