About Suzuki V-STROM

The Suzuki V-STROM is a family of adventure-touring motorcycles introduced with the V-Strom 1000 in 2002. The V-Strom 650 followed in 2004, extending the concept into the middleweight class. The range combines upright ergonomics, wind protection and luggage capacity with road-focused handling and the ability to travel on unpaved routes.

Across successive generations, the 1000 received a major redesign for 2014 and evolved into the V-STROM 1050 from 2020. The 650 has also passed through several generations, including significant updates for 2013 and 2017. Suzuki expanded the family with the 776 cc parallel-twin V-STROM 800 platform for 2023, positioned between the 650 and the litre-class 1050.

Versions vary by market and model year. Standard models generally favour paved-road touring, while XT and DE derivatives may add wire-spoke wheels, larger front wheels, revised suspension and protective equipment for greater rough-road versatility. Touring and Adventure packages can include luggage and other travel accessories.

Within Suzuki’s motorcycle lineup, the V-STROM is its main adventure range, covering commuting, two-up touring and long-distance travel. It is known for practical design, comfortable riding positions and balanced all-road capability. The 650 and 1000/1050 use V-twin engines, while the 800 uses a parallel twin.
