About Suzuki Splash

The Suzuki Splash is a compact five-door hatchback with the tall body and flexible cabin layout of a small MPV. Introduced in Europe in 2008, it was developed as a global model aimed at drivers seeking city-friendly dimensions with more passenger space than a conventional small hatchback.

Built on a platform related to the Suzuki Swift, the Splash occupied a practical position between Suzuki’s smallest cars and larger compact models. Its high roof, upright seating and relatively easy access were key qualities, while its short overall length suited urban use. European production took place at Suzuki’s plant in Esztergom, Hungary, with cars also exported to Japan and other markets.

The Splash remained a single-generation model, although styling and equipment were updated during its production life. A 2012 revision introduced redesigned bumpers, grille and interior trim. Depending on the market and model year, versions used small petrol engines, a diesel option in Europe, and manual, automatic or continuously variable transmissions. Most variants were front-wheel drive.

The closely related second-generation Opel and Vauxhall Agila shared the Splash’s basic design and production base. Within Suzuki’s range, the Splash was known mainly for combining compact-car running costs and manoeuvrability with useful cabin height and everyday versatility.
