About Suzuki RF

The Suzuki RF was a family of fully faired sport-touring motorcycles introduced in the early 1990s. It combined sport-bike performance and styling with a more accommodating riding position, useful wind protection and greater long-distance practicality. Within Suzuki’s range, the RF occupied the middle ground between touring-oriented road motorcycles and the more focused GSX-R series.

The line was produced in one main generation, with updates and market-specific specifications rather than a complete redesign. Its principal versions were the Japan-market RF400R, the middleweight RF600R and the flagship RF900R. The RF400RV added Suzuki’s variable-valve technology, while limited or region-specific variants included models such as the RF900RS2.

All major versions used liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engines, steel frames and full bodywork. The distinctive fairing featured horizontal side vents, giving the series an appearance unlike other Suzuki motorcycles of the period. The 937 cc RF900R was the largest and most powerful model, designed to balance strong acceleration and high-speed cruising with comfort and everyday usability.

The RF series is chiefly known for its stable road manners, broad performance, protective fairing and practical interpretation of the 1990s sport motorcycle. Production ended near the close of the decade without a direct RF-branded successor.
