About Suzuki QuadRunner
The Suzuki QuadRunner is a family of four-wheel all-terrain vehicles rather than one continuously developed model. It began with the LT125, launched in 1982 and sold as the 1983 QuadRunner 125. Recognised as the first production four-wheeled ATV offered to the market, it established an important part of Suzuki’s off-road range.
Early versions were small, simple recreational machines with four-stroke single-cylinder engines and straightforward transmissions. The range broadened during the 1980s and 1990s to include 160, 185, 230, 250 and 300-class models, followed by larger utility variants such as the 500. Depending on model and market, QuadRunners offered two- or four-wheel drive, manual or semi-automatic shifting, reverse gear, dual-range gearing, cargo racks and improved suspension.
There were no formally defined generations across the entire line. Instead, the name covered several related LT and LT-F series, ranging from compact entry-level ATVs to practical work-oriented machines. The 1987 LT-4WD was a notable development, adding four-wheel-drive capability, while the later KingQuad occupied the more specialised upper end of Suzuki’s utility ATV range.
QuadRunner models are known for uncomplicated engineering, compact dimensions and a balance of trail use and light-duty utility. They filled the accessible, general-purpose part of Suzuki’s ATV lineup, separate from the sport-focused QuadSport and QuadRacer families.
