The Suzuki MR Wagon is a five-door kei-class passenger car developed mainly for the Japanese market. Introduced in 2001, it combined the compact exterior dimensions required by Japan’s kei regulations with an upright body and a cabin designed to make efficient use of limited space. It occupied a practical, style-conscious position in Suzuki’s extensive small-car range.
Three generations were produced. The first arrived in 2001, followed by redesigned models in 2006 and 2011; production ended in December 2015. Early versions used Suzuki’s K6A engine, while the third generation adopted the newer R06A unit. Depending on year and specification, the range included naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and automatic or continuously variable transmissions.
Notable variations included the sportier MR Wagon Sport and later MR Wagon Wit, which added more distinctive exterior trim and higher equipment levels. The second generation placed particular emphasis on convenient access and family use, while the third adopted a more individual design and improved efficiency. The MR Wagon was also supplied to Nissan and sold as the Moco, reflecting its established place in Japan’s competitive kei-car market.
