About Suzuki Marauder
The Suzuki Marauder name was used for a family of cruiser motorcycles introduced in the late 1990s. Rather than one model evolving through conventional generations, it covered several parallel versions for different licence classes, markets and rider needs. All shared low-slung styling, a relaxed riding position and an emphasis on everyday road use.
The lightweight GZ125 and GZ250 Marauder models paired traditional cruiser proportions with air-cooled, single-cylinder engines and chain drive. Sold in various regions from the late 1990s into the early 2010s, they occupied the entry-level end of Suzuki’s road range. Their low seats, manageable dimensions and straightforward mechanical design made them especially suitable for urban riding, training and riders seeking a small-capacity cruiser.
The VZ800 Marauder was the main middleweight version. Introduced for 1997, it used an 805 cc liquid-cooled V-twin and had a broader, more muscular appearance than the GZ models. The short-lived VZ1600 extended the theme into the large-capacity cruiser class for the 2004 and 2005 model years. Market availability and naming varied by country, and the Marauder designation was later displaced in Suzuki’s range by Boulevard and Intruder-badged cruisers. Overall, the series is known for combining American-influenced custom styling with practical Japanese engineering.
