About Suzuki Inazuma
The Suzuki Inazuma name has been applied to two distinct families of standard road motorcycles rather than one continuous global model line. The original Inazuma appeared in Japan in 1997 as a GSX400 naked bike, followed by larger GSX750 and GSX1200 versions for selected markets. These models combined traditional roadster styling with oil-cooled, four-cylinder engines and substantial chassis proportions.
Within Suzuki’s range, the early Inazuma sat alongside models such as the Bandit but offered a more classically styled alternative. Major variations differed mainly by engine capacity and market availability. The 400 targeted Japan’s important middleweight class, while the 750 and 1200 provided stronger performance for European and other export markets. The series is known for its muscular appearance, broad seats, twin rear shock absorbers and accessible everyday handling.
Suzuki later revived the Inazuma name for the GW250, introduced from 2012 and called the GSR250 in Japan. This version was a modern entry-level roadster with a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 248 cc parallel-twin engine. It was positioned for commuting, newer riders and light touring, with naked, special-edition GW250Z and faired Inazuma F variations offered in some markets.
