About Suzuki Hayabusa

The Suzuki Hayabusa, also known by its GSX1300R designation, is a large-displacement, fully faired sport motorcycle introduced in 1999. Its name is the Japanese word for peregrine falcon. The model became known for exceptional high-speed performance, distinctive aerodynamic bodywork and strong straight-line stability. Often classed as a hyperbike, it also offers a relatively spacious riding position and broad power delivery suited to long-distance road use.

Three generations define its production. The first generation, built from 1999 to 2007, established the Hayabusa’s rounded shape and performance-focused identity with a 1,299 cc inline-four engine. The second generation covered 2008 to 2020, introducing a 1,340 cc engine together with revised styling, chassis and brakes. The third generation arrived in 2021, retaining the 1,340 cc inline-four layout while adding ride-by-wire control, selectable riding modes, traction control, a quick shifter, cornering-sensitive ABS and other electronic rider aids.

The Hayabusa occupies the flagship position in Suzuki’s road motorcycle range. Standard models have been joined by market-specific colours and limited or anniversary editions, usually distinguished by special paint, graphics and trim rather than major mechanical changes. Its combination of speed, stability, strong torque and recognisable styling has made it one of Suzuki’s best-known motorcycles.
