About Suzuki GSX
The Suzuki GSX is a family of four-stroke road motorcycles introduced in 1980 as a performance-focused development of Suzuki’s GS range. The first line-up included 250, 400 and 750 cc models, followed by the 1100. A key technical feature was the use of DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder engines, with Suzuki’s Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber design. In North America, some early equivalents continued to carry GS badging, so model names vary by market.
GSX does not describe one continuous model or a simple sequence of generations. It covers numerous related motorcycles produced in different periods and regions. Major versions included compact 250 and 400 twins, middleweight 550 and 750 fours, large 1100 models, fully faired sport-tourers, and later traditional roadsters such as the GSX 750, GSX 1200 Inazuma and GSX 1400. E, ES, EF and F suffixes commonly distinguished standard, partially faired and fully faired configurations.
The range is known for strong multi-cylinder engines, solid road performance and a balance between sporting ability and everyday usability. Early versions occupied an important position near the top of Suzuki’s road-bike line-up, while later GSX models increasingly focused on sport touring or classic-style large-capacity riding. Exact specification, bodywork and naming depend heavily on model year and sales region.
