About Suzuki Equator
The Suzuki Equator is a midsize, body-on-frame pickup introduced for the 2009 model year and offered through 2012. It was Suzuki’s first midsize pickup for North America and the only pickup in its US vehicle range. Developed with Nissan, it was based on the Nissan Frontier and assembled at Nissan’s plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, with distinct Suzuki styling and badging.
The Equator remained in a single generation during its short production run. It was available with Extended Cab or four-door Crew Cab bodies, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and different bed lengths depending on configuration. Engine choices comprised a 2.5-litre four-cylinder and a 4.0-litre V6, with manual or automatic transmissions offered on selected versions. The range included basic work-focused models, Premium and Sport variants, and the off-road-oriented RMZ-4.
Within Suzuki’s lineup, the Equator complemented the brand’s SUVs and targeted buyers needing a truck for work, towing or outdoor activities. It is known for straightforward utility, a fully boxed ladder frame, useful cargo-bed features on higher versions, and capable V6 four-wheel-drive configurations. Its shared Nissan engineering gave it proven midsize-truck foundations, while its limited production made it an uncommon Suzuki model.
