About Suzuki Cultus
The Suzuki Cultus is a compact passenger car introduced in 1983 as Suzuki expanded beyond its traditional kei-car range. Depending on the market, the same model family was sold under names including Swift, Forsa and SA310. It became one of Suzuki’s principal small cars, combining modest engines, low running costs and dimensions suited to urban use.
The original Cultus developed through two main global generations, launched in 1983 and 1988. Variations included three- and five-door hatchbacks, sedans and the performance-oriented GTi. Related versions were marketed under several other brands through Suzuki’s international partnerships. The later Cultus Crescent was a larger derivative and was known as the Baleno or Esteem in various markets.
The Cultus name gained particular importance in Pakistan, where a locally produced five-door hatchback arrived in 2000. Early cars used a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine, while a 2007 update introduced a fuel-injected four-cylinder unit. In 2017, the name was transferred locally to the model sold elsewhere as the second-generation Celerio, available with manual or automated manual transmission.
Across its different forms, the Cultus is known mainly as a practical, lightweight and economical small car positioned between basic entry-level models and larger Suzuki hatchbacks.
