The Suzuki Ciaz is a four-door mid-size sedan introduced in 2014. Developed mainly for international markets, it entered production in India and China, where it was sold as the Alivio, followed by Thailand in 2015. It has also been exported to markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Its model history centres on one principal generation rather than frequent complete redesigns. A major update arrived in 2018 with revised exterior styling, additional equipment and a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology in India. Specifications have varied by country, including 1.25-, 1.4-, 1.5- and 1.6-litre petrol engines, plus 1.3- and 1.5-litre diesels. Manual, conventional automatic and CVT transmissions have been offered.
Within Suzuki’s passenger-car range, the Ciaz occupies a more spacious and upmarket position than the brand’s smaller sedans and hatchbacks. In India, it joined the premium NEXA sales channel in 2017. The model is best known for its generous cabin, comfortable rear seating, long wheelbase, large luggage compartment and emphasis on fuel economy. Its character prioritises practicality, comfort and value over sporty handling or high performance.
