About Suzuki Baleno
The Suzuki Baleno is a compact passenger-car nameplate that has covered two distinct periods in Suzuki’s range. It first appeared in 1995 as the export-market name for the Cultus Crescent and Esteem family. This earlier Baleno sat above Suzuki’s smaller economy cars and was offered in several body styles, including hatchback, four-door saloon and estate versions, depending on the country.
Suzuki revived the name in 2015 for a five-door hatchback developed as a global model and manufactured in India by Maruti Suzuki. This generation moved the Baleno towards the premium end of the small-hatchback class while retaining the brand’s emphasis on low weight, efficient packaging and economical running. Petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and CNG versions have been sold across different markets and model years, alongside several manual and automatic transmission types.
A full model change followed in 2022, bringing redesigned bodywork, updated cabin technology and revised safety and convenience equipment while preserving the spacious five-seat layout. In Suzuki’s line-up, the modern Baleno is a practical, road-focused hatchback rather than an SUV or basic city car. It is best known for combining compact exterior dimensions with useful passenger and luggage space, straightforward operation and market-specific powertrains and trim levels.
