About Subaru Trailseeker
The Subaru Trailseeker (marketed as the E-Outback in Europe) is a midsize battery-electric SUV introduced for the 2026 model year. It is Subaru’s second global electric vehicle after the Solterra and the first global battery-electric model produced at the company’s own factory. Production began at the Gunma Yajima plant in Japan in February 2026 on a flexible line shared with combustion-engine and hybrid vehicles. The Trailseeker was jointly developed with Toyota.
The model is positioned as a larger, more spacious and more adventure-focused alternative to the Solterra. Its taller roof and expanded luggage area support family use, outdoor equipment and longer journeys, while protective body cladding and raised roof rails reinforce its utility-oriented design.
Only the first generation has been produced. In the United States, the range comprises Premium, Limited, Touring and Touring Leather versions, with differences mainly in cabin materials, comfort, multimedia and convenience equipment. All use a dual-motor electric powertrain with standard all-wheel drive.
Notable qualities include 375 horsepower, 8.5 inches of ground clearance, X-MODE traction settings and towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. Available driving range exceeds 280 miles, and the North American Charging Standard provides access to compatible rapid-charging networks. Within Subaru’s line-up, the Trailseeker combines the practicality and all-weather focus of the brand’s conventional SUVs with electric power and a roomier body than its compact electric models.
