About Subaru Ascent
Subaru Ascent is a three-row midsize crossover SUV developed primarily for North America. Revealed in 2017 and launched for the 2019 model year, it entered production in May 2018 at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. It is the largest vehicle in Subaru’s passenger lineup and gives the brand a direct entry in the mainstream family-SUV segment.
The Ascent has remained in its first generation through the 2026 model year. A substantial update for 2023 revised its styling, infotainment and driver-assistance technology without changing its basic platform or role. Seating layouts accommodate seven passengers with second-row captain’s chairs or eight with a bench seat.
All versions use a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder boxer engine, a continuously variable transmission and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Notable qualities include an adaptable cabin, useful cargo space, 8.7 inches of ground clearance and available towing capacity of up to 5,000 lb, depending on specification. EyeSight driver-assistance technology is also standard.
The range has included Premium and Limited grades, higher-specification Touring models, and appearance-focused Onyx and Bronze Edition variants. Overall, the Ascent is positioned as Subaru’s family-oriented flagship SUV, combining greater passenger capacity with the all-weather traction and practical packaging associated with the brand.
