About smart #3
The smart #3 is a five-seat battery-electric SUV coupé that debuted in Shanghai in April 2023. It was the second model introduced after smart’s product renewal, following the #1, and brought a lower, longer and more performance-focused body style to the range.
Developed under smart’s Mercedes-Benz–Geely joint venture, the #3 combines design from Mercedes-Benz’s global network with China-based engineering and production resources. At 4.4 metres long, it is substantially larger than the small city cars historically associated with smart and competes as a premium compact electric crossover.
Versions vary by market. European grades have included Pro, Pro+ and Premium, generally using a single rear motor and rear-wheel drive. The BRABUS version adds dual-motor all-wheel drive and substantially higher output, while Pulse and special editions are available in certain countries. Battery size, equipment, range and charging specifications also differ by version.
The #3 is known for its fastback roofline, frameless doors, long wheelbase and combination of everyday space with a sportier character than the #1. It occupies the coupé-style position in smart’s expanding electric line-up, offering crossover practicality in a less upright shape than a conventional SUV.
