About Saturn AURA

The Saturn AURA is a front-wheel-drive midsize sedan introduced for the 2007 model year. It replaced the L-Series as Saturn’s main family car and sat above the compact ION, and later the Astra, in the brand’s passenger-car range. Built at General Motors’ Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas, it used GM’s Epsilon architecture and reflected Saturn’s late-2000s move towards more conventional, globally influenced vehicles.

The range centred on the value-focused XE and better-equipped XR. Depending on model year and trim, buyers could choose four-cylinder or V6 petrol engines with automatic transmissions. The AURA Green Line added a mild-hybrid system intended to reduce fuel consumption, while the XR generally provided the strongest engine and a more upscale specification. All versions were four-door, five-seat sedans.

In the competitive North American midsize segment, the AURA faced established family sedans rather than occupying the distinctive niche of earlier Saturn models. It is known for clean exterior styling, a relatively spacious cabin, a comfortable ride and more polished road manners than several previous Saturn cars. Named 2007 North American Car of the Year, the AURA had a short production run that ended in 2009 as General Motors discontinued the Saturn brand.
