About Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph
The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph is a full-size four-door luxury saloon built at Crewe, England, from 1998 to 2002. It replaced the long-running Silver Spirit range and served as the marque’s principal saloon during the transition between the traditional Crewe-built era and the later Goodwood generation. Developed alongside the Bentley Arnage, it shared the basic body design but placed greater emphasis on comfort, quietness and understated performance.
Power came from a naturally aspirated 5.4-litre BMW V12, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The Silver Seraph was the first Rolls-Royce powered by a BMW engine and the brand’s first V12 model since the pre-war Phantom III. Its engineering was more modern than that of its predecessor, while the cabin retained traditional leather upholstery, wood veneers and deep carpeting.
The standard-wheelbase saloon formed the core of the range. A long-wheelbase Park Ward version arrived in 2000, providing additional rear-passenger space and a more formal, chauffeur-oriented character.
The Silver Seraph is known for smooth power delivery, a compliant ride, substantial construction and traditional interior craftsmanship. Within the Rolls-Royce lineage, it occupies a distinctive position as a low-volume technological bridge between two eras rather than the beginning of a long-running model family.
