About Ram 2500
The Ram 2500 is a full-size heavy-duty pickup positioned between the light-duty Ram 1500 and the higher-capacity Ram 3500. Its roots lie in the Dodge Ram truck range, while Ram has operated as a standalone truck brand since 2009. The 2500 is intended for drivers who need greater towing, payload and durability than a light-duty pickup without moving to the maximum capacity of a 3500.
Built on a body-on-frame platform, the 2500 has been offered with Regular Cab, Crew Cab and spacious Mega Cab bodies, different bed lengths, and rear- or four-wheel drive. Gasoline V8 and Cummins inline-six turbo-diesel engines are central to the model, although engine specifications, transmissions and availability vary by year. Production has long been associated with the Saltillo truck plant in Mexico.
The range includes work-focused versions such as Tradesman, mid-range Big Horn or Lone Star models, and more highly equipped Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. Rebel and Power Wagon variants add a stronger off-road focus, with the Power Wagon particularly known for specialised trail hardware.
Within the Ram lineup, the 2500 combines commercial-grade capability with the cabin space, technology and comfort expected of a modern pickup. It is known for strong torque, broad configuration choice and suitability for demanding work, trailer towing and recreational use.
