About Ram 1000
The Ram 1000 is a compact double-cab pickup introduced for selected Latin American markets in 2019. Based on the Fiat Toro and produced at Stellantis’s Goiana plant in Brazil, it uses a unibody platform rather than the separate-frame construction typical of larger trucks. This gives it a more car-like driving character while retaining an open cargo bed and seating for five.
Within Ram’s regional range, the 1000 was positioned above the smaller Ram 700 and below traditional midsize and full-size pickups. Its dimensions suit urban use, while the cabin and load area make it adaptable to family transport, leisure activities and light commercial work. Notable features include independent suspension, an elevated driving position and a split tailgate with two side-opening sections.
Versions differ by country and model year. The range has included Big Horn, Big Horn Night Edition and Rebel specifications. Big Horn models have generally used a petrol engine, front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission, while the Rebel has offered diesel power, four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic. Payload capacity also varies by version, reaching up to one tonne in some diesel configurations.
