About Peterbilt
Peterbilt is a North American truck manufacturer founded in California in 1939 and now part of PACCAR. The company is closely associated with heavy-duty commercial vehicles and is based in Denton, Texas, where many of its trucks for the U.S. market are built.
Today, Peterbilt offers on-highway tractors, vocational trucks, medium-duty models and zero-emission variants. Its range serves long-haul freight, regional delivery, construction, refuse, utility, towing and other specialised applications. The lineup includes conventional diesel models as well as battery-electric trucks for selected duty cycles.
Well-known Peterbilt models include the Model 579, a Class 8 on-highway truck focused on fuel efficiency and driver comfort, and the Model 589, which combines modern equipment with the brand’s traditional long-hood styling. The Model 567 is widely used in vocational roles, while the low-cab-forward Model 520 is designed for refuse and urban work. Medium-duty models such as the 535, 536, 537 and 548 cover box truck, flatbed, dump, utility and similar applications.
Peterbilt occupies a premium position in the North American truck market, alongside PACCAR’s other major truck brands. It is known for distinctive styling, broad factory configuration options, PACCAR powertrain integration, durable vocational platforms and driver-focused interiors. The brand is especially visible among owner-operators, private fleets and businesses that require purpose-built trucks for demanding commercial use.
