About Nissan Wingroad
The Nissan Wingroad is a compact five-door station wagon developed mainly for Japan. Introduced in 1996, it combined the roles previously served by the Sunny California and AD Wagon, offering passenger-car comfort with greater luggage capacity. It later became familiar in many countries through used-vehicle imports.
Three generations carried the Wingroad name. The Y10 was sold from 1996 to 1999, followed by the more rounded Y11 from 1999 to 2005. The Y12 arrived in November 2005 and remained on sale until March 2018, giving the final generation an unusually long production life.
Depending on generation and specification, the range included several petrol engines, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and different automatic, CVT and manual transmissions. Trim choices ranged from straightforward family-oriented versions to models with sportier exterior details and additional comfort equipment.
Within Nissan’s domestic line-up, the Wingroad occupied the practical compact-wagon position below larger estate models. It was known for combining manageable exterior dimensions and five-seat accommodation with a flexible cargo area. The Y12 particularly emphasised versatility through folding and sliding rear seats, an available fold-flat front passenger seat, underfloor storage and a wide-opening tailgate.
