About Nissan Versa
The Nissan Versa is a subcompact passenger car developed mainly for markets in the Americas. It joined Nissan’s North American range for the 2007 model year, providing an entry-level alternative below the Sentra. Early versions were related to the Nissan Tiida sold elsewhere and came as a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback.
The nameplate covers three main sedan generations. The second-generation sedan arrived for 2012, followed by a separate Versa Note hatchback for 2014. The Versa Note remained available through 2019. Introduced for 2020, the third generation returned the US range to a sedan-only format. Production has been centred in Mexico, reflecting the model’s role in both North and Latin American markets.
The Versa has generally served as Nissan’s smallest and most affordable conventional car in the United States. Versions have ranged from basic S models to better-equipped SV and sport-styled SR trims. Manual, conventional automatic and continuously variable transmissions have been offered depending on the year and market.
The model is known for value, fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines, straightforward controls and useful passenger and luggage space for its class. Later versions added modern infotainment and driver-assistance technology while retaining the practical, low-cost character that separates the Versa from the larger Sentra and Altima.
