About Nissan Skyline

The Nissan Skyline is a long-running Japanese passenger-car line known for combining everyday usability with strong performance and advanced engineering. Introduced by Prince Motor Company in 1957, it became a Nissan model after Prince merged with Nissan in 1966. Production has mainly served Japan, although several generations were exported or sold internationally under other names.

Across 13 generations, the Skyline has appeared as a four-door sedan, two-door coupe, hardtop, estate, van and hatchback. Its position gradually shifted from an upper-medium family car to a premium sports-oriented model. Most generations used front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layouts, while selected versions added all-wheel drive.

Performance variants are central to the Skyline’s identity. GT, GTS and turbocharged models offered increasingly capable engines and chassis, while the Skyline GT-R established a major motorsport reputation. The R32, R33 and R34 GT-R generations are especially well known for turbocharged six-cylinder engines and advanced all-wheel-drive technology. From 2007, the GT-R continued as a separate Nissan model.

Later V35, V36 and V37 Skylines placed greater emphasis on refinement, comfort and premium equipment while retaining a driver-focused character. The current V37 is a four-door sports sedan for Japan, offered with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, including the higher-output 400R.
