About Nissan President
The Nissan President was a full-size luxury sedan built primarily for the Japanese market from 1965 to 2010. Developed from the Cedric Special, it occupied the top position in Nissan’s passenger-car range. It was intended for senior executives, officials and private buyers, often with chauffeur-driven use in mind. Rear-seat comfort, quiet operation and formal styling took priority over sporting character.
Four main generations were produced. The original H150 established the model in 1965, followed by the larger H250 series in 1973 and the updated H252. A substantially redesigned G50-series President arrived in 1990, combining V8 power with a more modern chassis and a richly equipped cabin. The final PGF50 generation, introduced in 2003, was closely related to the contemporary Nissan Cima and used a 4.5-litre V8 engine.
Versions varied by period and included high-grade Sovereign models, the shorter-wheelbase President JS and specialised limousine conversions. The final generation was available with four- or five-seat interiors. Across its production life, the President was known for generous passenger space, soft ride tuning, strong sound insulation and extensive rear-seat amenities. Production ended in 2010, closing a 45-year run as Nissan’s traditional flagship luxury saloon.
