About Nissan Presea
The Nissan Presea is a compact four-door hardtop sedan introduced in Japan in June 1990 and discontinued in August 2000. It occupied a distinctive place in Nissan’s 1990s passenger-car range, combining the practical dimensions and mechanical basis of a small family car with lower, sleeker styling than a conventional sedan. Frameless side windows, a low roofline and restrained detailing gave it a more formal, near-luxury character without moving into the larger executive-car classes.
The model was produced in two generations. The first, coded R10, ran from 1990 to 1995 and established the Presea’s smooth, rounded hardtop shape. The R11 arrived in January 1995, bringing a longer body, updated design and revised equipment while retaining the same compact four-door concept. A styling and specification update followed in 1997, with production continuing until 2000.
Depending on year and market, the range included 1.5-, 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engines, front-wheel drive, and manual or automatic transmissions. Trim levels extended from relatively simple versions to better-equipped models with stronger engines. The Presea is chiefly known for offering sedan practicality in a more elegant, coupe-influenced form. It was not positioned as a dedicated sports car, but as a stylish alternative to Nissan’s mainstream compact sedans, aimed at buyers seeking manageable dimensions, distinctive design and a more upmarket feel.
