About Nissan Pixo
The Nissan Pixo is a compact five-door city car introduced in Europe in 2009 and sold until 2013. It served as Nissan’s entry-level passenger model, positioned below the Micra for buyers seeking simple, economical urban transport. Its short body, light weight and small turning circle made it particularly suited to congested streets and limited parking spaces.
Produced as a single generation, the Pixo was closely related to the Suzuki Alto and Maruti Suzuki A-Star. It was manufactured in India by Maruti Suzuki as part of a product-sharing arrangement, with Nissan-specific front-end styling and branding. This production context allowed Nissan to offer a competitively priced small car without developing a separate platform.
All versions used a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels. A five-speed manual gearbox was standard, while selected trim levels were available with a four-speed automatic. Equipment grades varied by country and included names such as Visia, Acenta, n-tec and Tekna, with higher versions adding features such as air conditioning, powered front windows and additional safety equipment. The Pixo is mainly known for low running costs, straightforward mechanical design and easy urban manoeuvrability rather than strong performance, extensive space or premium equipment.
