About Nissan Otti
The Nissan Otti is a Japanese-market kei car sold from 2005 to 2013. It joined Nissan’s domestic minicar range as a practical five-door hatchback designed mainly for urban use. The model was supplied by Mitsubishi Motors and closely based on the Mitsubishi eK Wagon, with Nissan-specific badging, grille details and trim.
Two generations were produced. The first, identified by the H91 model code, arrived in June 2005. The second-generation H92 followed in October 2006 and remained available, with updates, until production ended in 2013. Both used tall, box-shaped bodywork to combine a very small road footprint with seating for four and useful interior space.
Versions varied by year and included basic economy-focused grades, better-equipped models and sportier-looking derivatives. Front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive were offered, while selected versions used manual or automatic transmissions. Naturally aspirated petrol engines formed the core of the range, with turbocharged models also available during part of its production life. Later H92 variants included a remote-operated sliding rear door.
Within Nissan’s lineup, the Otti served as an accessible everyday runabout below the brand’s larger hatchbacks. It is best known for compact dimensions, straightforward controls, flexible cabin packaging and the availability of four-wheel drive—qualities well suited to crowded streets and Japan’s kei-car regulations.
