About Nissan NT500
The Nissan NT500 is a cab-over medium-duty truck developed for European commercial operators. Introduced in 2013 and produced in Ávila, Spain, it replaced the Atleon and sat at the top of Nissan’s European light commercial vehicle range, above the lighter NT400. Production ended in 2017 after a single generation, making it a relatively short-lived but distinct part of Nissan’s truck line-up.
Sold mainly as a chassis cab, the NT500 was designed to accept delivery, tipper and other specialist bodies. The range covered gross vehicle weights from 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes, with several wheelbases, equipment grades and drivetrain choices. Depending on the version, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engines were paired with six-speed manual or automated transmissions.
The NT500 is known for its compact forward-control layout, strong straight-frame chassis and practical body-mounting provisions. Its design provided good visibility and a relatively small footprint for urban work, while the tilting cab aided service access. The functional interior offered useful storage and available features such as a suspension seat, cruise control and hands-free connectivity. It occupied the space between heavy vans and larger distribution trucks, prioritising payload capacity, manoeuvrability and conversion flexibility.
