About Nissan NP300
The Nissan NP300 is a body-on-frame pickup developed for commercial work, mixed business and private use, and driving in demanding conditions. The name has been used in several regions for Nissan’s established one-ton pickup line, although its exact meaning varies by market and model year.
Many NP300 vehicles belong to the D22 generation, introduced in the late 1990s and also sold under names such as Pickup, Frontier, Navara and Hardbody. This durable, work-oriented design remained in production for selected markets long after newer Nissan pickups appeared. In South Africa and some other countries, it was marketed as the NP300 Hardbody.
From 2014, Nissan also applied the NP300 Navara name to the newer D23 generation. First produced in Thailand, this version adopted more modern styling, improved cabin comfort and updated technology while retaining the separate-chassis construction expected in the one-ton pickup class. Depending on the market, related D23 models have also carried the Navara or Frontier name.
NP300 configurations commonly include single-cab, extended-cab and double-cab bodies, with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, trim levels and payload ratings differ by country. Within Nissan’s range, the NP300 is known primarily as a practical midsize pickup, combining load-carrying ability, straightforward engineering and off-road capability.
