About Nissan Note
The Nissan Note is a five-door compact hatchback introduced in Japan in 2005. Its tall roof and space-efficient layout place it between a conventional supermini and a small multi-purpose vehicle. Within Nissan’s range, it has served as a practical B-segment model for urban drivers and small families, combining modest exterior dimensions with easy access, useful passenger room and flexible luggage space.
The Note has developed through three main generations: E11, E12 and E13. The first two were sold internationally, including in Japan and Europe. The second generation also reached North America as the Nissan Versa Note. Specifications varied by market, with petrol engines and continuously variable transmissions common, while front- and four-wheel-drive versions were offered in selected regions.
A major change came in 2016, when the second-generation Note introduced Nissan’s e-POWER system. A petrol engine generates electricity, but an electric motor drives the wheels, providing motor-led response without external charging. The third generation, launched in Japan in 2020, made e-POWER central to the range. Related variations include the more upmarket Note Aura, the raised Autech Crossover and Nismo-themed models. The Note is best known for efficient packaging, everyday manoeuvrability and a cabin that feels larger than its footprint suggests.
