About Nissan Murano

The Nissan Murano is a five-seat, two-row midsize crossover SUV introduced in 2002 for the 2003 model year. It was among Nissan’s early car-based crossovers, offering a design-led, comfort-focused alternative to traditional SUVs. In the North American range, it sits above the Rogue and below the larger, three-row Pathfinder.

Four generations have appeared, with redesigns launched for the 2009, 2015 and 2025 model years. The first three generations were closely associated with a 3.5-litre V6 and continuously variable transmission. The fourth replaced these with a 2.0-litre variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic.

Most versions use a conventional five-door body and offer front-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on model year and market. Variations have included the unusual four-seat Murano CrossCabriolet convertible and a limited-production hybrid. North American manufacturing later shifted from Japan to Nissan plants in Mississippi and Tennessee.

The Murano is known for distinctive styling, a spacious cabin, comfortable seating and a smooth, quiet driving character. It targets buyers wanting more room and refinement than a compact crossover without the extra seating and utility focus of a three-row SUV.
